2006 was the start of it all. Brookelynn Starnes was frustrated with the direction of the fashion industry- there was little care for garment construction and the way women dress, and the shapes and fabrics she was looking for were not in the market. She then decided to launch Cloak and Dagger, her own brand. Despite her young age, she was already well versed, having graduated from Pratt Institute in 2003 and having styled for the top houses in fashion, like Valentino, Prada, and Zac Posen.
Her work was inventive with a juxtaposition of intimate detailing, self designed patterns, and luxury fabrics. Her tailoring and style with romantic and vintage aesthetics were quickly noticed by editors and buyers. The line quickly came with critical and commercial acclaim. It has since been featured in Vogue, Elle, The Wall Street Journal, and New York Magazine.
Her massive success awarded her the opportunity to open two locations, one in East Village and the other in Boerum Hill. Alongside her own brand, he sells brands such as Karen Walker, Lauren Moffatt, and Rebecca Minkoff.
